Xplorearth Adventure Tracks (XAT) is an initiative by the team at Xplorearth for adventure motorcycling,
providing specially scouted routes that cater to larger capacity ADV motorcycles.
The aim of the XAT program is to work together with like-minded motorcyclists and tour operators and
curate riding experiences on lesser known off-road tracks and back roads to the larger ADV-Moto community.

Riders will get to experience the real Portugal from North to South,
avoiding run of the mill tourist traps and highways, without any compromise on comfort
and authentic local hospitality at the end of the day’s riding.

FAQ's

What is Portugal like in September?

In September, Portugal enjoys warm and pleasant weather, making it one of the best times to visit. The month marks a transition from summer to autumn, characterized by sunny days and mild evenings, perfect for outdoor activities. However, carrying your rain gear is advisable as the odd unexpected local shower can always hit during your ride!

What kind of travel paperwork do I need for visiting Portugal?

Indian citizens must have a valid Schengen visa to visit Portugal. Please ensure validity of your passport as well as visa to ensure no issues around the date of travel. We also recommend applying for Travel Insurance for the duration of the trip – the same should cover you in case of a motorcycle accident – please speak to your agent and ensure that medical bills, hospitalisation, medical evacuation and repatriation are covered.

What kind of riding can I expect on this tour?

The XAT Portugal Tour will comprise roughly 50% tarmac and 50% off-road riding. The off-road will comprise of dirt, gravel and slush (in case of showers). Off-road riding experience is highly recommended for this ride.

Will my Indian Driving License suffice for this tour?

At present, an Indian Driving License is not accepted in Portugal – neither by the Government nor with bike rental operators. Please apply for your International Driving Permit with your local RTO – the process is fairly simple and painless. This will ensure you do not face any issues with authorities, bike rental and even potentially travel insurance claims if the need arises.
